LeGrand Wolf: Merging Mormon Influence with Erotic Fantasy in Adult Entertainment

SWCEO Interviews LeGrand Wolf

Blog Post Written By: MelRose Michaels

Imagine leaving behind the familiarity of a Mormon upbringing to forge a path in the uncharted territory of adult entertainment.

In a recent Twitter Space, MelRose Michaels sits down with LeGrand Wolf, exploring the authentic, often provocative, ways LeGrand taps into the human experience to craft a world of fantasy that's both captivating and thought-provoking. Wolf's courageous journey is a beacon of transformation, proving that even the most unlikely of beginnings can give rise to a revolutionary vision.

MelRose Michaels:  Welcome, LeGrand! Let’s start by hearing a bit more about your background and how you ended up with the career you have today.

LeGrand: Thanks, Melrose. My path was pretty traditional at first. I grew up Mormon, served a mission in Ukraine, and attended BYU. I even went to medical school in Salt Lake City. But along the way, I realized I didn’t want to stay on that track, and I came out, met my husband, and eventually left the church. Around the time of California’s Prop 8, we felt motivated to create a site that used the Mormon Church as inspiration for a very specific type of adult content fantasy. That led to Masonicboys.com, which eventually evolved into Carnal Media.

MelRose Michaels:  And now Carnal Media is the largest gay-owned gay porn streaming service with over 51 sites! That’s incredible. What’s the driving force behind all this content creation?

LeGrand: It’s been quite the journey. Over the years, I’ve realized that content like ours can be empowering, especially as we embrace fantasies while keeping a clear line between reality and imagination. For example, we have sites that play on themes from my Mormon background. It’s a way to offer fans a unique fantasy that draws from my experiences but is firmly fictional.

MelRose Michaels:  There’s a powerful level of storytelling in your content. How do you bring that connection into performances?

LeGrand: I draw on personal experiences for inspiration. For instance, I recall being in the Mormon Temple at 19, part of a ceremony where I was barely clothed and anointed by this incredibly handsome man. Those moments were highly charged, and although nothing happened, they planted ideas for fantasies. Now, I use those memories to create a storyline that allows fans to escape into a fantasy. It’s about building that fantasy world where everything is heightened, and viewers can explore themes that, in real life, might be off-limits.

MelRose Michaels: Speaking of boundaries, do you find that some audiences struggle to differentiate between fantasy and reality?

LeGrand: Definitely. There’s a long history of people confusing fiction with reality. I think of how some listeners believed Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” broadcast was real back in the day. Nowadays, people can distinguish fantasy from reality in most media, like movies, but with adult content, when nudity comes into play, people often mistake it for reality. It’s an ongoing challenge, but I believe pushing for more open, honest conversations will help.

MelRose Michaels:  Absolutely. And that’s why the education around fantasy and roleplay is so important. Now, let’s talk about something you said in Prague: You compared OnlyFans to a storefront. Could you unpack that idea?

LeGrand: Of course. I see platforms like OnlyFans as an “Etsy for adult content.” It’s a marketplace where creators can set up shop with minimal overhead and sell directly to fans. This allows creators to gain a following, establish a brand, and eventually expand. I encourage our Carnal Media exclusives to think of themselves as businesses, and I aim to support them in becoming leaders. I want creators to learn the skills they need to thrive so we can have a thriving adult industry. Collaboration is key.

MelRose Michaels:  Yes! I believe in that so much. It’s why we started SWCEO. Now, shifting gears slightly, could you share any advice for creators entering mainstream adult content for the first time?

LeGrand: My best advice? Have fun and stay engaged. The content looks better if the performer is genuinely enjoying themselves. It’s about embodying the character and losing yourself in the fantasy, even if it’s not something you’d typically do personally. Authenticity comes through on camera and makes a big difference.

MelRose Michaels:  That’s fantastic advice. Last question: What’s the most valuable piece of advice you have for new creators?

LeGrand: Go niche. Finding your niche is crucial. There are entire communities online waiting for specific types of content, and if you can deliver that consistently, you’ll build a loyal fanbase. Fans of niche content crave familiarity; they’re not looking for surprises. So, if you become the go-to creator for a certain niche, they’ll stick around. Also, as the market evolves, I see a renewed interest in fantasy-driven content. So, find your niche and lean into that fantasy element.

MelRose Michaels:  I love it. LeGrand, this was incredibly insightful. Thank you for sharing your journey and advice with us!

LeGrand: Thank you, Melrose. It was a pleasure to be here.
