SWCEO Interviews Mistress Malissia
Blog Post Written By: MelRose Michaels
MelRose Michaels sat down with Mistress Malissia in a recent Twitter Space conversation to discuss her journey into the dominatrix industry, insights into feminine dominance, virtual domination, and more.
Mistress Malissia, a distinguished dominatrix, empowerment coach, and founder of the Dominatrix Academy, began her unconventional journey into the industry at 19. Overcoming early challenges, including abuse and exploitation, she discovered her passion for BDSM and personal empowerment, transforming these experiences into a thriving career that inspires women globally. She advocates for virtual domination, emphasizing quality audiovisuals and immersive experiences, and has created programs like Divine Domme Awakening and Mistress Business Class to empower Pro-Dommes and entrepreneurs. Her unique approach integrates somatic work, fostering personal and professional growth, and she continues to mentor women through social media and her website, embodying resilience and the power of embracing one's true self.
Melrose Michaels: Can you start by giving us some background on what led you to become a dominatrix and, ultimately, an empowerment coach?
Mistress Malissia: I began this journey in an unconventional way. I was 19 the first time I played with someone kinky. I was dating a porn star, and one of her clients was a sub. She asked me to join her in a session, and it involved degrading this guy and spitting on him while he was fully dressed. There was no sexual activity, and he paid us a lot of money and thanked us respectfully afterward. That was my first impression of BDSM.
Back then, I was in a very self-destructive phase and entered the sex work industry from a place of disempowerment. I ended up working for someone who essentially trapped me in the sex trafficking industry. It was hard to get out, but visiting my grandmother in Bulgaria made me realize I needed to change my life. I used manipulation and leverage to leave that situation and vowed never to return to the industry.
I moved to Melbourne, Australia, with a girlfriend six years later. Someone suggested I try being a dominatrix, and after researching it, I felt like I was reading about myself. I started my practice, met clients in person to vet them, and quickly began making a lot of money. I dove into learning about BDSM and female domination and hired a mentor. This world opened up a part of me, and I felt like I reclaimed my power, returning to the industry with full consciousness and rules for myself.
Melrose Michaels: That's such an inspiring story of overcoming challenges and reclaiming power. Can you tell us more about how you incorporate psychology, literature, and feminism into your career?
Mistress Malissia: When I left the sex work industry for the first time, I decided to rebuild myself. I went to university to study literature, feminism, and psychology, not from a career perspective but to discipline myself and surround myself with positive influences. This education aligned perfectly with BDSM, which is all about psychology. Feminism also plays a significant role, and my initial rage toward men transformed into respect and appreciation through my practice as a dominatrix. This work became my mission to destigmatize kink and promote healing.
Melrose Michaels: There's so much healing that can happen in the BDSM dynamic. Can you discuss how embracing the Mistress Mindset transforms lives beyond the career aspect?
Mistress Malissia: The Mistress Mindset is about embodying your inner mistress and stepping into your power. It's not just about performing dominance but genuinely believing in yourself and knowing your value. This mindset influences how you walk, talk, assert boundaries, and pursue desires. It's about being unapologetically yourself and shining your light brightly.
Through my programs, I've seen women leave unhealthy relationships, embrace their true selves, and transform their lives. It's about radical self-ownership and becoming the boss and goddess of your own life. When women embrace this mindset, they become empowered, and their entire lives shift positively.
Melrose Michaels: I love that. Can you describe the types of courses and programs you offer through Mistress Mindset?
Mistress Malissia: The main program is Divine Domme Awakening, a three-month course that helps women experience and embody their power through Domme work. The Dominatrix Academy is another program for women who want to become professional dominatrixes, covering everything from building a brand to understanding kinks and fetishes.
I also offer programs focused on business, like Mistress Business Class and Domme Boss, as well as courses on fetish fashion and seduction. I aim to help women integrate their interests and strengths into their work, making their businesses sustainable and aligned with their true selves.
Melrose Michaels: That sounds incredible. Can you speak to how you incorporate somatic work into your programs and why it's important?
Mistress Malissia: Somatic work is about how your body responds to changes and how your nervous system adapts. In female domination, a lot of worship involves receiving, but many women struggle with this. Somatic work helps align your body with your mission and desires, allowing you to fully embody your mistress self. This work ensures that your dominance is not just a performance but a natural expression of who you are.
Melrose Michaels: Can you tell us more about how the Mistress Mindset philosophy developed and what it means to you?
Mistress Malissia: The Mistress Mindset is an extension of who we are, not just a role we play. It's about genuinely believing in our power and value. When I first started mentoring and coaching, it was due to high demand. I initially doubted myself, comparing my experience to others with 20+ years in the industry. However, a client pointed out that she wanted to learn from me because of what I built in a short time. This realization made me understand that people wanted what I had to offer.
I created my first course, Femdom and BDSM 101, which blew up. This led to in-person workshops and, eventually, the formation of the Dominatrix Academy. When I got pregnant, I began questioning my future and decided to leave the industry as a provider and focus on mentoring. The Mistress Mindset is about teaching women to embody their inner mistress, truly stepping into their power and dominating their lives, not just sessions.
Melrose Michaels: That’s such a powerful philosophy. How do you integrate this mindset into your courses, and what are the results you’ve seen?
Mistress Malissia: My main program, Divine Domme Awakening, is a three-month journey where women experience their power through Domme work. It’s about embodying their mistress selves, not just playing a role. The Dominatrix Academy is comprehensive, covering everything from brand building to understanding kinks and fetishes. It’s designed for professional doms who want to build a sustainable and empowered business.
The results have been incredible. Women have left toxic relationships, embraced their true selves, and transformed their lives. One client, for example, left a 14-year relationship after realizing her partner was holding her back. She completely reinvented herself, embracing her power and desires. This transformation is what Mistress Mindset is all about – owning who you are unapologetically and shining your light brightly.
Melrose Michaels: It’s amazing to hear about these transformations. Can you discuss the importance of virtual domination and how it has evolved in your practice?
Mistress Malissia: Virtual domination has become essential, especially during the pandemic. It allows for global reach and offers a different framework from in-person sessions. Virtual domination is about creating an experience through the camera, with clear instructions and tasks for the sub. It requires high-speed internet, a good camera, and proper audio. The focus is on making the experience immersive and interactive.
Virtual domination can be incredibly powerful and profitable. It allows doms to work from anywhere and expands their client base. I have specific classes on virtual domination within the Dominatrix Academy, teaching how to create compelling virtual sessions and experiences.
Melrose Michaels: That’s very insightful. How do you see the Mistress Mindset influencing broader aspects of life and business beyond BDSM?
Mistress Malissia: The Mistress Mindset is about empowerment in all aspects of life. It influences how women assert boundaries, pursue their desires, and build their careers. Many of my clients are CEOs who use these principles to achieve success in their professional lives. The mindset teaches radical self-ownership, confidence, and the ability to command respect and value.
When women embrace this mindset, they transform their lives. They become more confident, assertive, and empowered. This shift positively impacts their relationships, careers, and overall well-being. It’s about stepping into your power and living authentically.
Melrose Michaels: It's incredible to see how impactful this mindset can be. Finally, can you share some upcoming projects or goals you have for the Mistress Mindset?
Mistress Malissia: I’m excited about expanding the Dominatrix Academy and integrating more somatic work into the programs. I want to create more in-person events and workshops to build a strong community of empowered women. My goal is to continue spreading the Mistress Mindset philosophy, helping women around the world step into their power and dominate their lives.
I’m also working on new courses and content for Domme Space, my membership community for Dommes. This includes more training, Q&As, and workshops on various topics related to domination, business, and empowerment. The aim is to provide a comprehensive support system for women in the industry, helping them thrive and succeed.
Melrose Michaels: That's so important. How can people find you and learn more about your programs?
Mistress Malissia: My website is MistressMindset.com. For more information about the Dominatrix Academy, visit DominatrixAcademy.com. I also have a Dommes membership called Domme Space, where I offer weekly live training, Q&As, and workshops on various topics.
